Future mentors, Super Neighbors, and Awesome Campaign Supporters!  Thanks for all of the Support, Friendship, and IDEAS!
You two ROCK!  100 plus days, you all were there from the beginning!  THANK YOU!

Dr. Elaine Edmonds, Tobi Jackson, and Charles Edmonds.  Your support made long days and longer nights EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL!  100 plus days and you two never lost faith!  Thanks!

Anne Alderfer was kind enough to once again to depart her new home in Arlington, and revisit East Fort Worth and assist with sign placement, phone calls, 5 am wake up calls and 1 am I can't SLEEP CALLS!  She spent Mother's Day, the day after the election, with me from 7 am until 6 pm picking up SIGNS! I cannot thank her enough for the support and friendship.

NEW Letter to the Editor from Robert Kelly, MD, a Fort Worth Internist, and awesome physician!

The Editorial Board's bias for incumbents of the Fort Worth school board may have merit. But your criticism of opponents needs to stay fair.In District 2, the Sunday editorial said Tobi Jackson's loyalties are split because her children are not in the district. I guess that is one standard. But you don't use the same standard for Jean McClung. Where did her children go to school? Her grandchildren?

Whether measuring taxes, student performance, appearance of the schools, the "employees first" attitude of the teachers union or the size of the administrative bureaucracy, there are problems in the Fort Worth school district that the incumbents have not solved.
Keep your criticism evenhanded, and may the best candidate win.

Letter to Editor:

This is to announce our support for Tobi Jackson, candidate for FWISD School District 2 Trustee.  Tobi is a graduate of Eastern Hills High School and life long Fort Worth resident.  Her volunteer work on Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Advisory Board, as well as other positions, resulted in the recent clearing and landscaping of Eastern Hills Park in Fort Worth’s Eastern Hills subdivision. She is an evidence-based, Master’s-level, secondary certified teacher who is painfully aware of the issues, concerns, and problems of FWISD school students, and has reported how honored she is to contend for this unquestionably imperative change in FWISD Trustee District 2 FWISD leadership.

The presently serving District 2 Trustee desires re-election, however only reports community volunteer as the foundation for her 20 years of service, and with 21st century skills squarely facing our children and adolescents – the time has come to soberly assess the skills and awareness of our decision makers.  Tobi’s commitment to academia and financial effectiveness, are two of the absolutely critical skills and talents we must require as we go forward in the challenging days ahead.  Our children need every chance to compete, thrive and succeed, and we have to get on with the show, because it’s going on with or without us.

Tobi Jackson for School District 2 Trustee, and please view and study www.TobiJackson.org for a serious and timely candidate for us all.

Sincerely,

Cleve and Melisa Blair

What do Supporters Say?

"Tobi doesn't always make the popular decision.....she makes the RIGHT decision! Her leadership on the board is invaluable to our citizens.

-Sheila Hill, Chairman
City of FW Parks and Community Service Advisory Board

Tobi is an effective leader who can bring community involvement back into our public schools and restore confidence to our TAXPAYERS.
  -Danny Scarth

Fort Worth City Council Member

Tobi Jackson is just what the FWISD needs:  a spirited leader who knows what it takes to motivate students to succeed.  She understands that discipline in the classroom provides an environment necessary for learning.  She has creative ideas on teaching methods that inspire kids to push themselves past their comfort levels.  Both of our children remember her Science classes as the most challenging yet fun and interesting studies at school-and definitely ones that prepared them to succeed in college.  We think she would be an ideal Trustee for the FWISD.

My husband Phil and I are endorsing Tobi’s candidacy. She lives in Eastern Hills and is active in its homeowners’ association.  I first met Tobi and her husband Bruce in 2007 when they worked on the team of Brentwood-Oak Hills and Eastern Hills leaders who fought to try to prevent 2201 Oak Hill Road from becoming subdivided into 18 tiny lots.  That would have been  a problem for so many reasons, including the loss of about 100 old-growth post oak trees and increased flooding in the BOHN and Eastern Hills areas which have storm drainage problems.  Bruce provided his expertise on construction and drainage issues, and Tobi worked with City staff to identify and protect the trees, which were marked for destruction.  Tobi currently serves on the City of Fort Worth Parks and Community Services Board, appointed by our current City Council Member Danny Scarth.

Since 2007 I have learned a lot more about Tobi—that she is not only passionate about education for our youth but also highly qualified to offer new ideas and experience to the FWISD board.

I’ll mention a few points here about her experience.  She graduated from Eastern Hills High School 1978, UTA with a BA 1982, and UNT with an MS 1985. She has a Texas State Teacher Secondary Certification.  Tobi taught math and science for 13 years in public, private, and career schools in Tarrant County.  She is currently the Assistant Director of Education at the ATI Career Training Center, where she also served as am advisor.  Her specialty is counseling the students at ATI who had dropped out of the public school system.   These students make up about 28 percent of ATI’s enrollment.  Tobi also has the experience of serving on the board of some Arlington schools. So she brings ideas and academic experience having been a student, a parent, a  teacher, a counselor, an administrator, and a school board member.   Add to that a number of years’ work in the private sector in the pharmaceutical industry and experience as a small business owner.

The public schools in District 2 need and deserve new leadership.  Eastern Hills High School has received an unacceptable rating for the past three consecutive years.  If it is rated unacceptable for the next two years, it will be shut down or totally overhauled, including a name change.  My alma mater, Poly, almost suffered this fate in another district.  It had four years of unacceptable ratings, but with years of hard work, it pulled up on the fifth year.  The focus also needs to be on the elementary and middle “feeder” schools, too.  Every grade level needs more attention.

Tobi Jackson is running against 20-year incumbent Jean McClung.  I regard both of them as friends.  I appreciate the fact that Jean has devoted so many years of her life to the cause of the FWISD.  However, I believe Tobi brings freshness and energy and passion to the task and can draw on a wealth of experience to apply to the academic and fiscal challenges of the FWISD.

Thanks for giving Tobi Jackson your consideration.  Come meet her Monday night if you can.  She is also knocking on doors to meet  people in District 2.

If you are interested in supporting her, you may forward this message to anyone you choose (even if the reception date is past.)  If you would like to have a yard sign and/or if you are interested in donating to her campaign, just let me know.

Thanks again,

Dear  Neighbor ,

I believe that every student and taxpayer in the FWISD should receive a maximal return on their investment.

My goals are:

1. Achieving Academic Excellence for every student
2. Supporting Academics by Making Classrooms Safe
3. Restoring Financial Accountability for EVERY Dollar Spent

How do we get there:

1.
Teamwork between Students, Parents, and the

FWISD--each member of this team must be

accountable, responsible, and outcomes driven.

2.
Efficiently place FWISD personnel to maximize
     success.

3. Comprehensively review all expenditures and insure
     they are appropriate and necessary.

Respectfully,

Tobi Jackson, M.S.

Fort Worth schools are in trouble

Over the past few decades I have sadly watched as our District 2 schools have declined from

being a strong and safe learning environment to one of high dropout rates, poor achievement

scores, and unacceptable rankings by the Texas Education Association.

It’s time for fresh ideas, and I am honored to run as your District 2 candidate. My goals are:

achieving Academic Excellence for every student, supporting academics by making campuses

and classrooms safe and providing Mentoring Programs, and restoring financial accountability

for every dollar spent
